Homework
1 hour per week. Students will have to finish their work from class before the next meeting. Homework should be no more than 30 min a week.
Assessment
Students will show and share their understanding by creating an e-book.

Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 1
Students will learn how to create a book using an online tool: Book Creator.  Book Creator has some wonderful features and tools, allowing students to use their imagination to add images, drawings, text, recordings, stickers, and more.  Teacher will provide support, guidance, and help throughout the week.  Some students may need adult support with Book Creator.  

1st meeting - Teacher will discuss the following parts of the story (Setting, Characters, Problem & Solution) and help students get started with book cover.  Teacher will model how to insert images and text.  

2nd meeting - Students will draft the beginning of their story.  Teacher will model how to add images and characters.  Students can use text boxes or recording to create dialogue.  

3rd meeting - Students will draft the problem of their story.  

4th meeting - Students will draft the Solution of their story. 

5th meeting - Students will edit and finalize their book.  

 Students can use an iPad or computer to create their digital book.  Teacher will provide a private class link before class.

Students will use Book Creator to create their book. Teacher will provide a private class link. This application is free and will not require any personal information.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello! My name is Cynthia Burleigh. I live in Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor in Science in Information Systems. I started my career in a banking institute, but quickly realized I wanted to become a teacher. I have been working in education for 15 years, 3 years teaching with Outschool. I am Bilingual Certified - speak English and Spanish and teach Bilingual and ESL students. My teaching experience includes: Robotics, Codings, Spanish, Pre K - 3rd grade Bilingual instruction, Bilingual Reading Specialist, and STEM teacher. 

I love to teach Reading, Math, Spanish, Technology and STEM (including robotics). I love spending time with family, teaching, and running. A little fun fact about me...I run marathons for fun! I can't wait to see you in class.
