This class will cover basic composition, different acrylic painting technique like blending, dabbing, embracing thin and thick paint, and lighting. This will be a step by step class. I will paint along with my students and pause for questions after each step. They will be following along with me as we paint and interact. This painting should take between 2 to 2.25 hours to finish. We will do a background and underpainting with black lines and shadows for the first half of the class and in...
Students will learn how to use acrylic paint to create texture and shape. They will also learn how to draw a simple owl. We will also touch on lighting and basic composition.
NO homework, but if a learner can not finish the painting in class time I will expect them to do finish it in their own time.
MATERIALS • 5 (or more) ACRYLIC PAINT COLOURS: Black White blue Yellow Brown • 3 PAINT BRUSH (at least): Soft, Thick flat brush: about 1 in wide. Soft, Medium round brush: about 1/4 inch wide. Small, round brush for details. • 1 PAINT SURFACE: canvas, wood, or smooth cardboard, like the inside of a cereal box. No smaller than 8x10 and no larger than 11x14 • OLD RAG/CLOTH • WATER • PENCIL AND ERASER
All students are expected to send me a final photo of their painting so that I can provide feedback (if requested) The criteria looks at: Composition, Painting skill, Time/Effort, and Final product. If a learner does not want to send me their painting that is ok, but I will be unable to provide additional feedback.
