Class Experience
Students will learn: 1. How to use basic tools and supplies for creating elastic bracelets. 2: How to use patterns to create beautiful designs. 3: How to tie a secure knot for elastic bracelets. 4: Tips and tricks for successful jewelry making for years to come!
I have over 15 years of experience in jewelry creation, including designing and selling my work through artisan festivals and e-commerce. As an educator, I have been teaching students from ages 6-15 through the world of jewelry making for over 7 years through homeschool classes, birthday parties, private instruction, and after-school enrichment courses across 8 elementary schools.
1 file available upon enrollmentRequired for Class: • At least three different types of beads of your choice (recommendation: pony beads, pearls with large holes, sparkly beads, and variety packs are great too!) • Elastic (recommendation: .5mm diameter, brand: Stretch Magic) • Glue (Krazy Glue or other craft glue with a thin tip) • Scissors • Scotch Tape • Ruler or soft measuring tape (at least 12 inches or 30cm long) • Piece of string (about 12 inches or 30cm) • Scrap piece of paper Extra Supplies (not required but super helpful!): • A piece of felt or other fabric (approximately 8.5x11") to use as a beading mat • Bead stoppers Material Costs & Where to Buy: • Beads: ~$10 • Glue: ~$5 • Elastic: ~$3 • Sheet of Felt: ~$.50 • Materials are available at your local craft store such as Michaels or JoAnn Fabrics. Check your stores for coupons, such as saving a fixed percentage off your entire order!
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
For this class, it is recommended to have an adult ready to help tie and glue a knot for each bracelet. If an adult is not readily available during class to help with securing knots, all bracelets that students create can be set aside for finishing after class.
