Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Beginner - Advanced Level
The Building Bricks Class is a relaxed atmosphere where learners can come each week to build together, be creative, and have fun. This is a one-time class that will focus on exercising your creative muscles and having fun at the same time. This is a community of creative thinkers who enjoy building with bricks, blocks, or other building toys. This class will allow learners to be creative, socialize, collaborate, build, and have fun! ***Even though this is a one-time class, the themes will change weekly for those learners who enjoy taking my classes multiple times.***

Each class will begin with a short time of Show & Tell where learners can show something they’ve built. It is not required, but each learner will be given the opportunity to share one item if they choose. Next, learners will be given a challenge theme (ie. at the amusement park, electronic devices, your favorite food, etc.). The challenge themes change on a weekly basis (for those learners who enjoy taking my classes multiple times, but do not have a spot in the Building Block Club). Together, we will collaborate and brainstorm possible builds related to the theme. Learners will use creative and abstract thinking, trial and error, and problem solving to build objects of their choice. They will have the remaining class time to finish their build focusing on being creative and adding details. Along the way, we will discuss what they are building, what issues (if any) they have run into, and how they’ve worked through those issues. There will be time for learners to share what they’ve built with the other class members so we can all get ideas and learn from each other.

*There are NO timed challenges in this class. There is no specific type or amount of building bricks, blocks, or other building toys required for this class. Come with what you have and let’s have some fun building together! ***Again, even though this is a one-time class, the themes will change weekly for those learners who enjoy taking my classes multiple times.***

*Note to parents…The challenge themes will be the same in all sections during the week, so if your learner would like to take the class more than once, please sign up during different weeks. Thank you for understanding and helping in this matter.

*This is an alternative option to the Building Bricks Club, which is an enrichment & club (or ongoing class). You can take this class while you are waiting for a spot in Club to open. However, if you are in the Building Bricks Club, you do NOT need to take this one-time class as the themes will be the same as the Club themes.

The benefit to being in Club is that you are subscribed and guaranteed a spot each week in that class. Those who are in the one-time class, you must sign up for a spot each week if you choose to take the class more than once. If you would like to be notified when a spot opens in the Building Bricks Club, please let me know.

*Each learner must be registered to attend the class; however, siblings/friends can share a screen to participate in the class.

*Please make sure your learner knows how to find and use the Mute/Unmute button. There are times when a learner’s background is noisy. Their mic will be muted by the teacher so the class and the learning and thinking processes are not disrupted. Your learner will then have to unmute their mic in order to talk. Zoom will not allow teachers to unmute mics anymore.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
