This 4-day Building Bricks CAMP is a relaxed atmosphere where building enthusiasts can come to build together and be creative. This is a community of creative thinkers who enjoy building with building bricks, blocks, or other building toys. Camp will allow learners to be creative, socialize, collaborate, build, and have fun! Each class will begin with a short time of Show & Tell where students can show something they’ve built. It is not required, but each learner will be given the opportunity to share one item if they choose. Next, learners will be presented with a challenge theme (ie. at the amusement park, electronic devices, your favorite food, etc.). Each class will have a different challenge theme. Together, we will collaborate and brainstorm possible builds related to the theme. Learners will use creative and abstract thinking, trial and error, and problem solving to build objects of their choice. They will have the remaining class time to finish their build focusing on being creative and adding details. Along the way, we will discuss what they are building, what issues (if any) they have run into, and how they’ve worked through those issues. There will be time for learners to share what they’ve built with the other class members so we can all get ideas and learn from each other. *There are NO TIMED challenges in this class. There is no specific amount or type of building bricks, blocks, or other building toys required for this class. Come with what you have and let’s have some fun building together! *Please make sure your learner knows how to find and use the Mute/Unmute button. There are times when a learner’s background is noisy. Their mic will be muted by the teacher so the class and the learning and thinking processes are not disrupted. Your learner will then have to unmute their mic in order to talk. Zoom will not allow teachers to unmute mics anymore. *Each learner must be registered to attend the class; however, siblings/friends can share a screen to participate in the class. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. LEGO® is a trademark of the LEGO Group of companies which does not sponsor, authorize, or endorse this class.
Learning Goals
Skills learners will be developing include: creative and abstract thinking, collaboration, brainstorming, trial and error, problem solving, decision making, communication skills, socializing, public speaking, and taking turns.
