Create an Outline for a Speech, Presentation, or Report

Learners will create a speech outline that has (1) an introduction that captures your audience's attention, (2) strong supporting points and (3) a meaningful conclusion. These skills can be used for presentations or reports on any topic.

Homework
1 hour per week. This is a one-time class. Students will be provided with a copy of the outline upon enrollment. This outline can be used for any type of speech, presentation, or report.
Assessment
Class discussion, thumbs up / thumbs down, brainstorming, read aloud sharing, step-by-step check-ins of the outline progress throughout the class, guided practice to check for understanding and independent writing practice

The foundation of a really great speech is a really great outline.  Great speakers are prepared speakers.  They don't ramble with too many words, lose focus, or run out of things to say because they created an outline with a clearly stated (1) introduction of a topic, (2) main points that support the topic, and (3) a conclusion with a call to action.

In this class, students will create an outline for a speech.  They will learn how to deliver interesting speech introductions, develop at least three significant main points for their speeches, and write conclusions that summarize the main points of their speeches.

Pre-Requisites
Participants should have knowledge of the English language as well as basic English speaking and writing skills.
