In this one-time class, students will learn to write strong and clear descriptions about an animal they design. Designed to help reluctant writers, this class will give students tools to use descriptive language in their own writing. At the beginning of the lesson, students will learn how to use the five senses to make their writing more descriptive and will practice with a game called "What's in my Bag?". Students will then draw their own never-before seen animal. They will be able to choose what it looks like and will be encouraged to use their imagination. After drawing a picture of their animal, students will then write a descriptive paragraph about the animal that they designed using full sentences and their five senses. At the end of class, students will be given the option to share their paragraph and picture of their animal with the class. No prior knowledge is needed for this class. If your learner needs extra support or differentiated instruction, please reach out. I am more than happy to accommodate!
