Class Experience

The Christmas season is upon us! What better way to show someone you love them than with a personalized picture slideshow! This Christmas themed art and music class will teach young learners how to create a fun photo slideshow with their own Christmas music to share with friends and family.

First, we’re going to go through the steps of making a fun Christmas song using the iPad and GarageBand, exploring the different instruments and loops, such as the piano to build chords, the drums to make...

GarageBand/iMovie familiarity, confidence building, creativity with technology, slideshow creation.

I am a full-time Outschool teacher with two bachelor's degrees, one in Music Studies and another in Information Technology. I have worked as an educator for almost a decade, including 4 years of online teaching.

I am a music production fanatic who enjoys learning and teaching music technology.

Please note that students require: 

1- An iPad (for GarageBand and iMovie) 
2- A separate computer or laptop (to follow along on Zoom)
*This class is for learning GarageBand and iMovie on iPad. Students may not use the computer version of GarageBand/iMovie for this class.

Please check that your device is compatible with the new iPadOS 15:

The new iPadOS 15 is compatible with iPad mini 4 and later, iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, and all iPad Pro models.

👉 To check the model of your iPad:

On your iPad:

Look for the 'Settings' icon (the gear icon)
On the left-hand side, look for 'General' and click on it
On the right-hand side, look for 'About' and click on it
On the right-hand side, look for 'Model Name' to see your iPad model


🥁 We will be using the latest version of GarageBand and iMovie so that all students are using the same software and have access to the same features. 🥁

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me up to 24 hours before class start.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Please note that social media sites such as Gmail/email, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, and Pinterest all require that the user must be 13-years-old or older. Please make sure that you are adhering to these guidelines.
