Description

Class Experience

By the end of this lesson, students will have completed a digital Valentine with a colorful background, formatted text, and images using the PicCollage EDU app.
Karen Bosch is a recently retired teacher with over 4 decades of teaching both in the elementary classroom and with PreK - 8 students using iPads, Mac Computers, and other technology tools. She has vast experience with designing technology learning experiences for students geared for their age level and needs. Her passion is to help students unlock their creativity using iPads and other technology devices - not just play games and watch videos! She is an award-winning educator and has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished Educator and Michigan Technology Using Teacher of the Year.
No assigned homework, but students may want additional time to complete their projects or to design new ones!
For this class, parents will need to prepare: *An iPad with the most recent paid PicCollage EDU app downloaded in advance onto their iPad: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/piccollage-edu-collage-maker/id977081997 *Note: You must use the most recent *PAID* EDU version of PicCollage (which is designed for students age +4), NOT the free version! This app is currently (as of 2/8/22) $1.99 US on the app store. *Please download the app 24 hours in advance to avoid difficulties on the day of the class. *Be sure you have updated to the MOST RECENT version of the app which contains the Valentine stickers! *Again, I remind you do NOT use the free version of this app. It will not work for this class. *A separate computer or screen (not the iPad they are using for their animation project) to watch the lesson. *You will need an internet connection on your iPad to use the additional free text styles/stickers (that are included in the app) and to use the safe search for photos for the project.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:

I personally have used the PicCollage EDU app on my iPad for many years to make collages and graphics for my lessons in the classroom. I've taught hundreds of students how to use this app to make report covers, digital posters, illustrated stories, greeting cards, and other creative projects. I would love to share what I have learned with new students so they can produce their own amazing digital valentines!
