During this 60-minute workshop-style class, students will learn how to use different stenciling techniques with stamp ink to create a super-duper-cute, winter-inspired greeting card.

This class is designed to introduce students to the world of card-making using basic stenciling techniques and stamp ink. Once enrolled, your child will receive a "Penelope Penguin Snail Mail Kit"in the mail, which includes reusable stencils, and enough card stock, envelopes, and embellishments to make 4 individual greeting cards. Creating with this kit is a great way for kids to explore the craft, before investing in their own stencils, stamps, or other card-making materials. Students will be required to purchase stamp ink and a few additional art supplies that may be used after class to keep creating! This Workshop is taught in 3 sections: Section 1: UNBOX! (10 minutes) The students will set up their work space, organize their materials, and learn some basic card-making terminology. Section 2: CREATE! (35 minutes) The students will use their materials to create one greeting card. This part of the workshop will be taught in a step-by-step fashion, using Zoom’s 2-camera option, allowing students to see me, as well as an overhead shot of my workspace, as we create together. During this time, students will... 1. Learn how to layer cards to create interest and develop a color story 2. Learn how to stencil to create a focal image 3. Learn how to reverse stencil to add color and create interest 4. Learn how to use embellishments and accents to add dimension 5. Learn how to add text elements Part 3 (15 min.): TIME FOR TIPS AND TRICKS! The students will learn some tips and tricks to help them complete more cards after class. Important Note! To ensure the timely arrival of materials, students residing in the U.S. should enroll at least 5 days prior to the scheduled meeting date, and students residing outside of the U.S. should enroll 10 days prior .

INCLUDED SUPPLIES: *"Penelope Penguin Snail Mail Kit": This kit includes reusable stencils, plus enough card stock, envelopes, and paper accessories to create 4 cards. After your child is enrolled in the class, you will receive an email, requesting your shipping address. Snail Mail Kits are shipped first class via USPS, and should arrive within 3-5 business days. (5-10 days for those students who reside outside of the U.S.). To ensure that materials arrive prior to class, please enroll at least 5 days prior to class, or 10 days prior, if you reside outside of the U.S. SUPPLIES READILY FOUND AT HOME: *Small bowl or measuring cup (1/4 cup is plenty big!) *A few sheets of scrap piece of paper *A few paper towels *Baby wipes or hand wipes *Old shoe box ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES: The items listed below are easy to find at your local craft store or a big box store, like Walmart. Please choose black and at least 1 additional color. I'm a creative educator with over 8 years of classroom teaching experience.
I have a B.S in elementary education from the University Missouri-Saint Louis, and am certified to teach all subject-areas in the state of Missouri for grades 1-6. I’m also certified to teach both Health Education and Physical Education (K-12), in the state of Missouri. Additionally, I'm a certified group fitness instructor, and a licensed esthetician.
In the traditional classroom setting, I've taught all subject areas at the 4th-grade level, computer technology for upper elementary students, as well as physical education and health education for students from kindergarten through 8th grade.
I love working with children and thoroughly enjoyed each of my teaching assignments, but overtime, I've developed a special passion for all things health and wellness...and craft-related!
I plan to teach fun, interactive health and wellness classes to help students identify and practice skills related to self-esteem and confidence, stress and anxiety management, organization and productivity, as well as nutrition and physical fitness.
I also plan on offering a variety of craft workshops to provide a creative outlet for students craving a break from the more traditional virtual learning happening in many places right now.
I would describe myself as energetic, expressive, and fun, yet structured and organized. I enjoy crafting, reading, planning, journaling, and exercise classes, especially Pilates and Barre. I also enjoy graphic design, so creating original materials for my Outschool classes is a treat!
I have 2 beautiful daughters. Shaia is 14 and Flora is 6. They are 2 of my favorite people! I live in Missouri, about an hour north-west of Saint Louis, with my girls, my husband-James, and our bunny-rabbit, Thaddeus. The town where I now live is not far from where I attended grade-school-the place where I first discovered my creative spirit and love of learning.Reviews
