Class Experience

Students will use cardboard to begin to create a "Frank Lloyd Wright" style house after learning about the famous Mid-Century Architect and his Prairie style.
What was Frank Lloyd Wrights inspiration?
What are the "tell-tale" characteristics of a Frank Lloyd Wright building?
The 3Dux/ Design Architecture Set: Iconic Home, will be explained and all pieces and parts will be reviewed.
We will be architects assigned to design a house in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright.
After designing and creating our Mid-Century house we can paint and decorate it.
Creation of the entire house will not be completed during this one time class session. The one time class format will be both informational and include some studio time for students to begin their project. Students may spend as much time as they would like to finish their design after the class session.

Students will need a material kit, which can be used over and over with recycled cardboard.
Remember, everyone's creativity takes different time. Most if you won't finish by the time class ends. My role is to help inspire you and then set you free. I'd love for you to share what you have, and when finished, post a picture in the classroom.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the basics of designing and building, gain confidence in their ability to imagine and become more comfortable creating.

Parental Guidance
The concept of Mid-Century Modern Architecture will be viewed, discussed and used for inspiration during this class meeting. I will not be showing, discussing or referencing any controversial works. Sometimes when kids learn about a topic and become interested they want to do their own further research and may come across more graphic drawings or images if they have unchaperoned access to the internet.
Supply List
Students will need the:
3Dux/ Design Architecture Set: Iconic Home
It can be found here: https://www.3duxdesign.com/products/modhaus-combo-kit

These kits can be used over and over to create a variety of projects.
Kits can be combined with other 3Dux/design modeling sets to create larger and more complex structures.
(The connectors are engineered to fit most single-ply cardboard
so if you need more pieces or different shapes, just re-purpose a box!)

• Paint or marker to color the Mid-Century Modern house. (optional)
• Decorative crafts or items to add to the exterior of the Mid-century Modern House house. (optional)
 2 files available upon enrollment
