Create a 3-D "Crooked House"- Art, Architecture & Design
Dennise Heckman M.Ed.
Be the architect that is hired to design a "Crooked House" that tilts and slants BUT will not fall down! We will incorporate a variety of skills as we build with cardboard and plastic connectors.
Class experience
Students will use cardboard to create a "Crooked House" after learning about famous crooked buildings around the world. How does a crooked building stay standing? How long has the Leaning Tower of Pisa been leaning? The 3Dux/ Design Go-Pack will be explained and all pieces and parts will be reviewed. We will be architects assigned to design a crooked house that will not fall over. After designing and creating our crooked house we can paint and decorate it. The one time class format will be...
Students will learn the basics of designing and building, gain confidence in their ability to imagine and become more comfortable creating.
I have taught figure 3-D Design in Pennsylvania public schools since 1996 and have had tremendous interest and excitement about this topic from students.
2 files available upon enrollmentStudents will need the: 3Dux/ Design Go-Pack It can be found here: https://www.3duxdesign.com/products/3duxglobal-student-material-kit These kits can be used over and over to create a variety of projects. Kits can be combined with other 3Dux/design modeling sets to create larger and more complex structures. (The connectors are engineered to fit most single-ply cardboard so if you need more pieces or different shapes, just re-purpose a box!) • Paint or marker to color the crooked house. (optional) • Decorative crafts or items to add to the exterior of the crooked house. (optional)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The concept of famous crooked buildings will be viewed, discussed and used for inspiration during this class meeting. I will not be showing, discussing or referencing any controversial works. Sometimes when kids learn about a topic and become interested they want to do their own further research and may come across more graphic drawings or images if they have unchaperoned access to the internet.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
