This 17 week ongoing class will be a fun, easy introduction to Greek/Latin root words used in the English language for medicine and human anatomy and later in the semester- function and pathology.

Class experience

This class is taught in English.
The students will learn to enjoy making and breaking apart English words used in medicine to
show their understanding of common root words, prefixes, and suffixes that come from
Latin/Greek word parts.
The students will be able to pronounce word parts correctly and will be able to explain their
meaning.
Finally, it is the goal of the teacher to engage and inspire students to enjoy the language of
medicine and to be motivated to take more classes like this one, as well as, the more in depth
and complete medical terminology classes available to them later in life.
While some students may not be ready for discussions involving human anatomy, disease, or
medical issues it is the teacher's goal to make this material as kid friendly as possible.
A weekly study guide will be provided. For homework students will need access to one 30 min. medical tv show- old or new.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Illustrations and drawings of human anatomy are included in the power points. However, the reproductive Greek /Latin terms power point is very watered down and does not include any sexual or graphic material.
Youtube.com videos using Greek/Latin word parts used in Medicine and Human Anatomy, Latin/Greek terms are taken from
the book, Medical Terminology, A Living Language, 4th Edition, Fremgen and Frucht.
