US Grade 6 - 7
In this one-time class, students will explore the crazy world of animal adaptations and natural selection. This topic will be taught as outlined in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and will provide a great baseline for future biology and life science courses. During this class, students will create a creature to see if it will survive various environments and events. Although this activity is super fun, it is also informative and models what happens to animals on earth when environments change. These applications to real-world patterns will be addressed and discussed with students throughout the lesson. Students do not need any prior knowledge to sign up for this course.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to define adaptation, natural selection, and environment.
Students will understand how changes in environment can affect animal populations.
