Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
In this class, students will learn how to master long division through step-by-step guidance and plenty of hands-on practice. We’ll cover essential skills such as dividing multi-digit numbers, interpreting remainders, and applying division to real-world scenarios. This class is designed to build confidence and understanding, whether learners are new to long division or need extra support to strengthen their skills.

This class is structured to be interactive, engaging, and tailored to meet the needs of each student. Each session will begin with a lesson on long division, where students will get a quick refresher of what they have been learning in school. As a group, we will then work through guided examples with my support, followed by opportunities to solve problems on their own and sharing their steps with the group. (If you have a shy student, they don't need to present! We love all learners.)

To make learning fun, we’ll incorporate math games and real-world examples that help students see how division applies to everyday life. My teaching style is supportive and encouraging, with plenty of room for questions and discussion. Students will interact with me during the entire session with problem-solving activities and group discussions, ensuring they feel confident and supported throughout the class.

By the end of this class, students will have gained a solid understanding of long division, improved their problem-solving skills, and developed the confidence to tackle division problems independently.

This is a focused "crash course," where each session features new and unique practice problems. This flexible structure allows students to join as often or as little as they need, making it easy to fit into any schedule while reinforcing long division skills at their own pace.

Learning Goals

Students will be able to divide multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm and interpret remainders in the context of word problems, aligning with CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.6.NS.B.2

Other Details

Supply List
Students will need paper and a pencil. If students have a whiteboard and dry erase board that they can use, that would be great also.
