What's included

35 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this course, we will look at the basic algorithm for long division in a fun and interactive way! Our focus will be on developing the confidence to tackle long division problems, specifically for students who are struggling with solving basic problems independently. We will cover strategies for success including color-coding, math language and math stories, finger counting, multiplication charts, etc. My teaching style is dynamic, engaging, and interactive! I believe that learning math should be fun, and getting kids laughing and participating will help them develop a love for math and interest in continued practice. I tell funny stories, crack jokes, and get kids talking and thinking about math concepts together. In this course, we will begin with how to set up a long division problem on the page. We will look at the structure of an equation and how to read it aloud using math language. We will then solve a guided equation together using strategies such as color-coding and finger counting. As the lesson progresses and student confidence develops, I will gradually pass on the skill to students to walk through and complete independently. We may have time for more challenging bonus questions, too! Students taking this course should have beginner strategies in multiplication and division but are not able to solve an equation independently. A printable worksheet with my tips & tricks as well as some practice questions is included with this class!

I am an Elementary Mathematics teacher with over 8 years of experience in the classroom. I struggled with math as a child, and it wasn't until I began my teaching career that I developed a passion for numeracy. I understand student's struggles with math, and I understand why they may lack confidence. My fun and engaging teaching style can help to overcome these challenges and develop a love for numbers!
