This is class #1 of art history 101. We begin at the beginning considering the things left behind by Neanderthals and prehistoric man. Art and creation have always been important and in this class, we'll consider some of the reasons why creativity began to be expressed. From sculptured and carved artifacts to painted caves and scratched stone designs. Art history begins over 30,000 years ago. We'll see items from Africa, Europe, North America, and Australia. We'll consider ancestry and human migration out of Africa and why you should care about Prehistoric art today. Is there a difference between art and artifact?. Is this simply anthropology?
