In this one time class students will be introduced to art work from the period of the Ancient Near East. Sometime called the Fertile Crescent and the Cradle of Civilization a number of important cultures rose and fell in this area including the Sumerian's, Babylon's, and Persian's. In this class students will recieve a crash course in history as well look at and discuss the art these people created. From small votive statues to huge ziggurats we'll see all kinds of art that help us understand...
Taken from my lectures for college students this course breaks down one area of art history and will help students see differences and similarities in these cultures and time periods.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
