Crafty Kids: A Social Arts and Crafts Club!

In this ongoing social crafts club, students will make a new art or craft activity every week, using household materials like paint, markers, cardboard, glue, etc. Students are given instructions but are also encouraged to be creative.

Class Experience

Each week students will do a different craft, most of the crafts are made using household and recyclable materials. I will post a list of materials in the classroom a minimum of 2 weeks in advance and will suggest alternatives when applicable.

The classes are interactive, and students have ample opportunity to interact with both the teacher and their peers. I tend to do an icebreaker activity at the beginning of class whether that is in the form of a short game, video clip, or a question of the day. I make it a priority that all students feel comfortable and heard. Students may be asked to mute themselves while I am explaining how to do the activities but otherwise may remain unmuted. Overall, my teaching style can be described as animated and enthusiastic.

I will give students step-by-step instructions on how to complete the activity however I encourage students to be creative and make each project their own. No prior experience is necessary, just an interest in arts and crafts!

Week of Feb. 6: Valentine's Cards
Week of Feb. 13: Faux (Cardboard) Valentines or Pastel Colored Gingerbread House
Week of Feb. 20: DIY Avocado Pinata
Week of Feb. 27: Animal Eye Mask (Think Masquerade Ball)
Week of Mar. 6: Clover Salt Dough Ornament
Week of Mar. 13: Rainbow Scratch Art
Week of Mar. 20: Let's Make and Create with Puffy Paint

Please note that classes sometimes exceed the time limit, however, students should generally be able to complete the class within the allotted time frame and are always welcome to excuse themselves if they are not able to stay.
