In this 40 minute class, students will discuss the history of Independence Day and fun facts about Independence Day, in addition to crafting paper plate American flags and paper lanterns!

Come celebrate the 4th of July with me and other students! As a class we will learn about the history of Independence Day as well as go over some fun facts about Independence Day, why we celebrate it and traditions associated. Additionally, we will focus on creating two crafts during our time together; a paper plate American flags and paper lanterns. Throughout this class students will improve their understanding about the 4th of July, it's history and why we celebrate. Additionally, they will learn about and create a paper plate Americna flag and paper lanterns. Most importantly, students will have fun while learning and sharing about the 4th of July!
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology. Additionally, I have had significant experience working with preschool aged children in a variety of capacities including in aquatics, as well as classroom and childcare settings during my experience as a traditional and non-traditional educator.
In order to participate students will require: 1. Paper plate 2. Ribbon or String 3. Paint, crayons or markers 4. Glue 5. Scissors 6. Construction paper 7. Anything else you'd like to use to decorate your crafts (ex. glitter, crayons, anything you'd like)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please note the use of scissors is encouraged to be completed with the assistance of an adult or when in direct supervision of of one. If you are unable to remain by your learner throughout the class and are uncomfortable with them using scissors please ensure any materials requiring cutting are completed in advance of the class.
