Beginner Level
What will be taught? Students will learn to apply the conventions of B.C.E., C.E., B.C., and A.D. to arrange events in chronological order on single-tier timelines, understanding how these systems organize historical dates. What topics will you cover? The class will cover the Gregorian calendar’s date conventions (B.C., A.D., B.C.E., C.E.), how to identify and use these terms, and how to arrange events chronologically, including understanding that B.C.E. years count down like negative numbers. How is your class structured? The class begins with an engaging introduction using video and visuals, followed by guided practice with timelines. Students will participate in interactive activities such as arranging events on group timelines and identifying dates. The class concludes with individual or group assignments to reinforce learning. How will you teach? I’ll use a mix of direct instruction, visuals (e.g., timelines and slides), interactive activities, and guided discussions to engage students. A video lesson will introduce key concepts, and activities will build on those concepts with real-world applications. What's your teaching style? My teaching style is interactive, engaging, and student-centered. I use humor, relatable examples, and hands-on activities to make learning fun and meaningful. I also ensure that concepts are accessible to all learners. How much will learners get to interact with you? Students will interact with me during: Lecture/Direct Instruction: Brief and interactive with questions encouraged. Games and Activities: Timelines and group challenges with real-time guidance. Slides and Video Clips: Presented with explanations and pauses for discussion. Discussions: Structured opportunities to ask questions, share ideas, and analyze topics collaboratively.
Learning Goals
Apply the conventions of B.C.E. and C.E. or B.C. and A.D. to arrange and analyze events in chronological order.
