Class Experience

Each session is filled with projects that are based on passion, collaboration with peers, and a playful spirit. The activities are hands-on, memorable, meaningful, and motivating, and are specially designed for girls and boys aged 10 to 12.

This is a discovery class where the only academic requirement is a passion for learning and creating.

In this online live course, each student will:

- Participate in a class with other children in their age group (10 - 12), discovering how engineering is a part of their everyday life.
- Enjoy four hours of personalized, project-based instruction and interest-based projects.
- Learn to design, build, and create models that will require an engineer's eye using everyday household materials.
- Collaborate with small groups (6 learners maximum per session) with one adult certified live instructor.

Syllabus/Topics covered:

Week 1 (Civil Engineering)
- Engineering & Engineers
- Civil Engineering
- Design a Platform using Weak Materials

Week 2 (Aerospace Engineering)
- Share update Bridge Design
- Aerospace Engineering
- Design an airplane and an airplane launcher

Week Day 3 (Robotics Engineering)
- Share update airplane and airplane launcher
- Robotics Engineering
- Design a Robotic arm

Week Day4 (Wrap up/Environmental Engineering)
- Share updated Robotic Arm
- Environmental Engineering
- Design a Sorting Machine model to aid in recycling

The 60 minutes classes are incredibly interactive:
10-minute lecture using videos and slides.
40-minute self-paced creation.
10-minute discussion of achievements.

Learning Goals

Engineers play an important role in our everyday lives; in this course, we will be learning the basics of engineering and how simple machines impact our everyday life.

In our Engineering class, students will learn about four engineering fields and how those fields contribute to everyday life.

In this course, students will put on their engineering caps and test their abilities by creating different projects related to the engineering field discussed for the day.

Students will learn that being an engineer starts as a model and will create model designs using everyday household items to complete projects.

With the instructor's guide, students will learn that they, too, can be a part of the engineering process if they are willing to try.
