Students must infer what evidence from a "crime scene" says about the criminal responsible and then conclude which of the 4 suspects is guilty!

Class experience

US Grade 3 - 5
Students will make observations and inferences (a guess based on prior knowledge and evidence) from the Evidence Picture Files. Students will draw conclusions and make inferences while reviewing suspects' criminal records. Students will synthesize all information from the presentation in order to deduce the identity of the robber. Team work skills will be strengthened through this activity.
I have been a classroom teacher for 19 years. I have often utilized similar activities in my classroom in order to help students understand and practice inferencing skills and synthesize information from texts in a way that is fun and has a "real world" application.
 1 file available upon enrollment
A pencil and a printed copy of the Criminal Records, Suspect Notes, and Evidence Analysis Sheet (this packet will be available for download in the classroom).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
This class is meant to be a lighthearted and fun way to practice inference and deductive thinking. There are no dark themes or mature content as related to law enforcement or criminal activity.
