Class Experience

Students will be able to:
1. Assess a scene for their safety and the safety of others (PPE & BSI)
2. Explain what CPR does to the body and why it can save a life
3. Name the A,B,C's of CPR assessment
4. Know how to activate the Cardiac Chain of Survival
5. Assess signs and symptoms of injuries, illness, and life threatening causes
6. Provide basic first aid and know when to call EMS
I have 4 years of former USLA Ocean Lifeguard experience at YMCA Camp Surf in San Diego, California. Additionally, I have earned my National EMT certification in March of 2020.
No homework assigned - a future class in CPR & First Aid to CERTIFY the student is recommended when available.
Students should bring a doll or stuffed animal with limbs to perform CPR compressions and first aid assessment.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be provided opportunities in the form of scenarios to test their knowledge. They will be asked to utilize a stuffed animal, doll, or their own body to practice and assess during modeling and scenarios. Students will be given verbal feedback from teacher.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Graphic images (blood, minor cuts, head injuries, traumatic scenes) will be present throughout this class - students will be given a warning as to what will be presented on each slide.

This course does NOT certify a student in CPR & First Aid - This is an introduction to the topics.
