Description
Class Experience
Students will use techniques such as slip stitches, single crochet, half double & double crochet, magic rings, and crocheting in the round techniques to create and personalize 7 holiday pieces by the end of the session (5 weeks). Some previous crochet experience is a must.
Melanie Hays has taught crochet to young people for the past 7 years. She enjoys finding projects that students will be excited about and teaching them crochet basics at the same time. Melanie has her Master's degree in education, Is a 5th grade teacher by day, and has taught crochet courses to "tweens and teens" for the past 8 years.
Students may have to put some finishing touches on their projects each week after class. This should take no more than 15 minutes to complete outside of class.
Crochet hooks (size 3.5, - 5.5) and a tapestry or yarn needle Glue gun or Tacky glue small amount (5 to 6) straight pins One skein red yarn (any brand, but not overly chunky) One skein green yarn (any type) Small ball of brown yarn (for gingerbread person) Small ball of black yarn Small ball of white yarn Small ball of yellow yarn Small ball of any color yarn to create your Star (your choice) One skein of all cotton red yarn (or color of your choice for gift card holder) One skein of all cotton variegated holiday yarn (or color of your choice for gift card holder) One Styrofoam cone (medium size) to create Christmas tree
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
