Description

Class Experience

Students will grow in their general understanding of numbers. Students will develop essential skills needed for understanding of future math and learning in general.
B.A. in Family and Child Development. I am a firm believer that play is the work of the child, so my goal is to make this class fun! 6 years experience working in early childhood education with students ages 3-5. I have taught this very thing to dozens of children throughout the years, and even to my own children who are homeschooled.
Students will be informally assessed by Mr. Ryan by their answers in class. If students do not answer verbally in class, parents should assess understanding based on conversation with their child.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
I will sometimes play a game with the students using a PowerPoint presentation. These games will involve much movement, so make sure the students have space to stand, jump, and even run in place. If not properly supervised, my biggest worry is that students will try to stand on a chair and try these movements. I will always make a disclaimer before the activity "You may stand if you'd like to, but make sure you stand on the floor and not on a chair."
