Class Experience

Students will learn to rote count from 1-100, then skip count by 10 They will also learn number recognition at random, and number sequence. . And lastly, they will learn the number before and after any given number. I will be using the traditional rote count method first. And then transition to game-based learning. I found that the game-based learning method is very motivational for the learners because it is fun as well as educational. It is also hands-on for the students and they seem to love that.

The class session is 45 minutes to allow for ice breaker / talk story time (about 5 minutes or so) so that learners feel more comfortable being in a class with new kids and new teacher.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I teach Conversation Cantonese, basic math and language arts to Kindergarteners and life skill classes to older elementary-age kids. My professonal background is in Social Work and I am currently in my last year of schooling to become a certified Special Ed Teacher. I have worked as an emergency-hired Special Ed teacher in an elementary school for one year. I have worked as a substitute teacher for the elementary schools for two years. So in total, I have 3 years experience working with elementary school students.

My philosophy behind teaching is that anyone can learn no matter what level they are at. And students learn best when class is interactive and fun. Thus, occasionally, I will use humor in class.

Something fun and personal about me is that I have a cat named "Baby."
