Hello, Homeschoolers who cosplay! This class is by special request from the Learners in the Cosplay for Homeschoolers Series course. "Can we have a way to meet every week?" Of course! Hi, I'm Mama Cosplay. I've been with Outschool for 3 years as a cosplay educator. I offer an inclusive, all-walks-of-life welcome experience for cosplayers of EVERY level. ALL cosplay is welcome. OCs, canon characters, closet cosplayers, half finished cosplay, furry characters ALL WELCOME. All skill levels welcome from beginners to almost pro. Please join for a super interactive, FUN, very friendly experience. Arrive for your first session in cosplay. If you join when sessions are in progress, that's fine! We begin each session with an introduction of all Learners in the session. Each week you will be informed of what to expect the following week. The reason for that is to encourage cosplayers to use their creativity to come up with new ideas and give them a week to do so. It's a great way to expand their creativity and look at cosplay from all artistic perspectives. (Next week's challenge will be posted in the classroom as a reminder and/or for those just joining.) More cosplay challenges, games, and events will be discussed as we continue and many will be at the suggestions of the cosplayers in the group. Mama Cosplay will keep the classroom updated with the challenges. Remember- even if you join later, you will be welcomed and included! Mama Cosplay is a former talk show host and quite skilled at making sure every cosplayer has equal talk time. Thank you and I hope to see your cosplayer very soon!
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Due to Outschool's safety policy, all cosplayers must be on camera at the start of the class to ensure a safety check. If the cosplayer is wearing a mask, the mask will need to be removed in order to conduct the safety check. We ask that there are no offensive or insensitive costumes. If in doubt, please reach out to Mama Cosplay prior to class.
Supply List
It's advised the cosplayer has more than one costume. If not, the cosplayer must be willing to change their character's look with items from their closet for the costume challenges. Elaborate costuming and supplies are not required. The goal is to expand our imaginations and find ways to costume and accessorize with items we already own, or can make from items we already have. No extra expenses are needed to be spent for this series.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Is your child a cosplayer or wanting to be a cosplayer? Do they want to join other cosplayers online in a safe, happy, encouraging space? Do they want to learn from cosplayers paid to speak at conventions, events, and are sponsored by costume companies? Do they want to be a part of a friendly cosplay community? Then please read more about our organization, Cosplay Is Life here on Outschool!
Our leader! Mama Cosplay! Mama Cosplay is known worldwide as the "Internet Cosplay Mom." Mama has a large social media following due to her portrayal of original anime characters, and her engaging, loving, encouraging way with children. Not only is she a cosplay mother figure, but she's also skilled in all areas of cosplay. Mama knows it's more than just having the cosplay skills. You have to be able to connect with children AND be able to communicate in a manner that makes the child excited to learn more. Mama excels at cosplay education with clear communication presented with pizazz, energy, and enthusiasm. Mama has over 100 wigs, even more costumes, cosplay accessories, and an endless supply of makeup. Mama is a top cosplay influencer, which means companies provide her with any costume item she wants. She is also paid to speak at cosplay conventions and is a cosplay cabaret show producer! She's also the mom of 3 child cosplayers, one of which is also a professional cosplayer! Mama has developed over 50 unique, original cosplay classes and events since she began her educator career with Outschool. Top sellers include Mama Cosplay's Cosplay Prom, The Cozzies Cosplay Awards, Crimes Against Cosplay, cosplay parties for every holiday, private cosplay instruction, and private parties.
One thing we must mention is that Mama is also known for bringing shy learners out of their shells. Many children begin her classes feeling awkward, and with much social anxiety. The transformation that happens in her classes is incredible! Soon those shy children are social butterflies and many have gone on to become big names in the cosplay industry, and/or surrounded by new friends, and many are now looked up to as mentors for young cosplayers.
Bucky- every cosplayer's big brother.
Bucky is an outgoing, bubbly, fun, inclusive instructor who quickly rose to popularity here on Outschool because he's close enough in age to the students that he relates to their generation, but old enough to lead them properly and with much enthusiasm. Bucky loves to cosplay from many fandoms, is an avid video gamer, and is very enthusiastic when it comes to all things cosplay and anime. Students love Bucky so much they have made Bucky cosplay playing cards, Bucky fan art, and Bucky memes. You can find Bucky on the schedule every other Sunday.
Lore: (Mama's child) Lore became a professional, sponsored cosplayer at age 15. Lore is sponsored by major costume companies, wig companies, and makeup lines. Lore was a teacher's assistant on Outschool for a year and is now an official Outschool cosplay educator. Lore leads the Five Nights at Freddy's cosplay group, the DSMP group, The Scariest Cosplay Group, and more!
Ari- Ari is a professional chef and leads the Cooking With Cosplayers series.
If you want your cosplayer to learn from cosplayers who represent the very best in the business, and will properly guide your child through every aspect of cosplay, please give the educators at Cosplay Is Life a try. Mama truly cares and wants your child to leave class feeling happy, encouraged, praised, and enthused!
