Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
We will be examining corruption and corruption reform. We will start by defining and explaining the concept. Because the word 'corruption' has multiple uses and can mean different things to different people, I will introduce and explain, using examples, the most widely established academic usage of the term. We will then discuss the many ways in which it is known to hinder countries. We will look at the history of corruption reform, spending some time on successful corruption reform programs in places like Hong Kong and Singapore. And then we will take a deeper look at more recent corruption reform, seeking to understand why some work and many others do not.
I have always taught in a manner that seeks to maximize student engagement. In order to avoid bias, the discussion will be entirely non-partisan, focusing on academic and professional approaches to corruption and corruption reform.
There is no prerequisite experience or knowledge -- curiosity is all you'll need!
