Class Experience

In this fun and exciting summer camp, learners will enjoy a slideshow presentation that is filled with breath-taking images and we enjoy a lecture/discussion based class. Learners will learn about three types of marine reefs. Barrier reefs, atolls and fringing reefs will be discussed. Learners will also learn about conservation of the ecosystem. No prior knowledge is needed. Learners will be encouraged to participate and ask questions. Your learner will develop better public speaking skills and a deeper love for learning as they learn fun facts about a topic they are intrigued by. I look forward to seeing you in class. SPECIAL BONUS: Coloring sheets will be made available for print out, so your child can enjoy coloring about the topics they learned about.

Each day, Learners will take a virtual scuba dive into the reefs around the world. We will explore the creatures and fun facts about the marine life that lives with these reefs and why reefs are important.

This is a one week, three day camp that meets during three consecutive days.

First day: Barrier reefs
Learners will learn about the barrier reefs, coral destruction, ecosystem & how we need to implement conservation to protect sea life. We will also discuss how these reefs are formed.

Second day: Atolls
Often mistaken for islands, learners will learn what the difference is between an island and an Atoll, as well as the sea life that lives within. We will also discuss how these reefs are formed.

Third day: fringing reefs
Learners will learn how a fringing reef is different from the other two main types of reefs. We will discuss what a backreef zone is & learn more about the creatures that live within a fringing reef. We will discuss how these reefs are formed.
