Description
Class Experience
During this one time, live online course, students will be introduced to coping strategies for use in their everyday lives. Students will also identify feelings during this class. By the end of the course, students will have gained knowledge of many coping strategies for use to handle several emotions. Students will learn why coping skills are important. Students will also walk away from the class with a list of coping strategies for when they are mad, envious, sad, angry, lonely, depressed,...
I am offering this course to share my knowledge of coping strategies. In the past, I have worked in many different aspects of the field of psychology. As such, I feel that I have a unique perspective and can share some of my past experiences to encourage a future generation to explore their feelings.
A handout(s) will be provided by the teacher. The parent/guardian will be responsible for printing out the handout(s) if they so desire. You must have access to a PDF viewer in order to open and print the handouts. Printing the handout(s) is optional, you may also choose to download and save them rather than print. Lessons will be taught using PowerPoint Presentations and will also incorporate some YouTube videos. There will be no additional books or materials to purchase for this course. Students must have access to a web browser to complete brief research tasks. Students will utilize their microphone and/or webcam when participating in the discussion. If one of these items is not available, students can contribute to the classroom discussion by using the chat pod.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
This course incorporates the use of brief YouTube videos. While the content is appropriate to the class, I feel parents should be aware that they are incorporated into the lecture portion of this course. This course is a combination of lecture and discussion. This course relies heavily on classroom discussion for about half of the classroom time. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the discussion.
