Homework
1 hour per week. Students will practice using the skills taught each class. This will usually be practicing taking notes or studying those notes using a specific skill.
Assessment
An end of course assessment will be taken during the last test. These are graded so that students can reflect over what study skills work best for them. However, the grade to the assessment will not affect their course completion.

Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
In this engaging self-paced course, students will embark on a journey to master essential study skills. The course begins with an introduction to key skills, followed by immersive practice opportunities in various learning formats.

Throughout the program, students will delve into study skills through a blend of thought-provoking articles, captivating lectures presented in podcast format, and enlightening educational videos. Their skill development reaches a pinnacle with an enlightening end-of-course assessment to evaluate their progress.

Led by interactive videos and tailored individual assignments, the course is conducted using Google Classroom lesson plans. To guide students effectively, organized folders containing detailed lessons with dedicated note-taking spaces and assignment submission prompts will be provided.

The initial skill acquisition phase spans approximately 15-30 minutes, ensuring a concise yet comprehensive learning experience. Subsequently, homework assignments serve as vital practice sessions and can be completed within 30 minutes.

Following each lesson, interactive Google Classroom tools will be employed to actively engage students in the learning process and provide them with constructive, detailed feedback to enhance their skills further.

Students will leave the class learning how to be efficient studiers, how to make a study plan for future assessments and how to be successful in a secondary course.

Lesson 1:
Study Productively
 A huge part of about being efficient while studying is setting up an environment where you can be successful and limit distractions. This first week, we create the best study environment for you through questioning, reviewing research and debate prep. 
Lesson 2:
Note Taking Basics
 Notes are really the most important component of studying. Learning why and how you can set yourself up by taking notes in class. 
Lesson 3:
The Nitty Gritty of Notes.
 All the tips and tricks to take better notes. 
Lesson 4:
Organization
 Okay we can take notes now... but how do we stay organized to actually use the notes?

Supply List
Students get to choose if they want to learn to take notes digitally or on paper. If they wish to do this on paper, they will need a notebook.
