Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
The learning goal for this class is as follows:
1. Food, knife, and cooking safety.
2. Canning safety.
4. How to prepare vegetables for canning.
5. Spices and how to use them.
6. How to label your finished pickles.
I have been cooking, and canning since I was a child. My dad was a bit of a farmer so we canned almost all of our vegetables. I currently teach jelly and jam making at Outschool. I love to gift and or sell my products throughout our community.
We will have to prepare vegetables the night before class or the morning of class.
The learner will need: A large stockpot with a rack insert (you can get this at most retail stores for about $20.00 A canning kit (You can purchase this at Amazon or a retail store. Once you signed up I can send you pictures of each. Pint mason jars with lid and rings. Pickling vegetables and spices (I will give you a list once you are enrolled according to that week's recipe, no worries we will use these spices several times throughout the weeks of class.
The assessment will be the finished product, but don't worry I will be checking in to see how the pickles turn out and how the learner and family like the pickles.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The following may be a hazard so please be aware! I will cover safety rules at the beginning of class and reminders throughout. Saftey is my number one priority.
Hot stove, liquids, and jars.
We will be using a variety of seasonings, please let me know if your child has any allergies.
