In this weekly course, students will take fresh fruits and vegetables and learn how to can and preserve them for future use. The student will build critical thinking skills and confidence by seeing and tasting their finished product.

Class experience

This class is taught in English.
The learning goal is:
1. Learn food safety and procedures
2. To learn canning safety and procedures
3. To learn to label each  product
4. To learn various recipes
5. To learn foods that each recipe will complement
I have been cooking since I was a child. I have over 40 years of cooking experience. I also cook for community workers, church, and friends. 
6 oz mason jar with lids and rings (this can be bought as a set or individual)
10 lb bag of granulated sugar 
Norpro Canning Essentials Boxed Set (This is a set of canning supplies on Amazon. It is cheaper than buying individual pieces and can be used over and over)
Canning pot and rack (you do not have to buy expensive. Amazon and Walmart have pot and racks for around $25) I have used the same $10.00 pot for years.
additional supplies will be given according to the weekly menu.
Parent, please be aware:
The stove will be used and can potentially be a burning hazard.
Knives will be in use and could be a cutting hazard.
PLEASE BE AWARE CERTAIN BERRIES, SPICES, AND MORE WILL BE IN USE AND COULD BE AN ALLERGEN ISSUE. NO NUTS WILL BE USED
