Let's find out the secret to getting the soup into a Chinese soup dumpling. You will learn how to make Soup Dumplings from scratch, make the dough, flavorful soup, pork filling, fold and cook the dumplings together with new friends.
Class experience
Chinese Soup Dumplings are the most perfect food ever invented, and it's the most famous dish to come out of China. They call this xiaolongbao or soupy buns as it's a steamed dumpling consisting of a paper thin wrapper with pork filling, hot and flavorful soup inside. Teacher Joy will take you to China and learn a little bit of the soup dumpling history. She will walk you through step by step on how to make fresh delicious soup dumplings from her kitchen and answer all of your questions...
Students will be able to experiment and create Chinese soup dumplings from scratch which will help build their self-confidence, understand Chinese culture and lay the foundation for healthy eating habits at home.
A steamer or a frying pan with a heat proof plate, parchment paper, all purpose flour and bread flour (optional), ground pork or shrimps, ginger, garlic, pepper powder, oyster sauce, green onion, shiitake mushrooms, soy sauce, beef or fish gelatin powder (unflavored gelatin powder for vegetarians).
Parental guidance is recommended for younger students as we will be in the kitchen and there are hot appliances and other hazardous things in the kitchen. We want our students to be safe and having fun :).
