Description
Class Experience
Students will learn how to: *slice, dice and chop vegetables and fruits. *cook Rice or Quinoa *properly cook fish, chicken, and ground meat. *mix and layer ingredients for texture, flavor, and sight *use herbs and vegetable to add flavor and texture. *make adjustments with ingredients and cooking times as needed *kitchen measurement and calculations when doubling or cutting a recipe in half *roast and caramelize veggies *make cheesecake fillings *create different sauces that accommodate the meals *utilize the food processor.
I am a STEAM Enrichment I and Culinary Instructor for children ages 5 -18. I have taught fusion inspired cooking, baking, and art classes over 10 years.
No homework will be given, however participants are advised to take sometime to review the recipes instructions. All while taking sometime to practice after class is competed.
The ingredient list will be sent prior to the 1st class starting. Each Month will have different ingredients. All ingredients can be purchase at your local farmer's markets and grocery stores. Recipes and ingredient list are post 3-4 days before the class starts TOOL LIST 1.A big/ medium bowl 2. 2-3 small prep bowls 3. A large or medium skillet 4. Cutting board 5. A knife: chef knife , pairing knife, or clear plastic knife with grooves on the blades. (one that they are most comfortable with) 6. Butter knife 7. A small spoon and fork 8. a can opener 9. Baking Pan 10. Measuring spoons and Cups 11. Mixer (handheld or cake mixer) 12. Rubber spatula 13. Aluminum paper 14. A blender 15. A big baking dish 16. Food processor/ Blender 17. Vegetable peeler 18. A Small Pot for rice/ Quinoa or a Rice Cooker
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
After each session, each participant will get to taste their cooked meal and share their creations with their love ones
4 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Since we will be using, sharp utensils. blenders, the stove top, oven, graters, etc. for certain recipes, parental supervision is advised if any assistance is need. For some students that is a good amount of help is needed and for others, it is not much help that is needed. Each chef is different and that is expected
