Class Experience

As the daughter of a culinary chef, I started cooking at a very young age, as early as four years old! Cooking is not only a necessary life skill, but also a way for children to learn to be creative, and use as a stress reliever. Each class will be a new recipe that will allow learners to try new foods and experiment with a variety of ingredients. We will be making appetizers, desserts, and meals that is of Italian cuisine. Learners will use all kitchen appliances with supervision in their home or have cut ingredients cut prior to class by a parent. I will model the cooking and go through each step of a recipe during the class. This is a hands on class! I want learners to be able to ask questions, and explore in the kitchen! If any of the recipes have baking time, we will make a second dish during that time as well. This class is interactive and will also allow children to share pictures of their cooking and recipes they find in the classroom. My goal is to teach learners to be confident in the kitchen, have courage to try new things, and work independently when cooking. There is no experience required, but learners must have supervision for safety when using kitchen appliances or using a knife. Every other week will skip from appetizer and a meal to a dessert. Example of schedule is below. Please make sure to let me know of any allergies. I will message you to let you know an ingredient you can substitute in for a specific ingredient. We will be using the oven, stove, and microwave. I will always let the learners know a week prior of the appliances needed in advance for parent supervision. Learners can share recipes and photos each class in the classroom to spike discussions with classmates. Learners will be guided to responsibility and safety in the kitchen as well as individuality and creativity in their cooking. Some classes I will discuss nutrition as well as technique. This class is meant for learner to become comfortable and gain a true passion for the art of cooking. We will also talk about how cooking is a way to escape from life stress or worries. This class is fun, hands on, and exciting! I look forward to seeing children share pictures of their cooking and love to see the pride they have in their dishes!

I am a Rider University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Elementary Education. I also studied Early Childhood Education, Middle School Education, and Entrepreneurial Studies.

I grew up in South Brunswick, New Jersey and was fortunate to have an amazing educational journey with fantastic teachers. I remember moments in my childhood, where I begged my parents for a chalkboard and education workbooks in order to pretend I was a teacher to my stuffed animals. It was not until I had inspiring, extraordinary educators in my life that I turned this pretend play into my lifelong dream.

Every child needs a role model to look up to and I will be an inspirational guide for children throughout their educational journey. When I am not in the classroom, I provide year round tutoring and babysitting services. I also work with children at a summer day camp. My goal in life is to make a positive difference in as many lives possible and help children to grow into unique individuals with their own shaped beliefs and values.

One of my passions is helping others by organizing a variety of community service events to benefit people in need. Every year, as creator and team captain, I organize a fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association in honor of my grandmother and in memory of my great aunt. I would love to incorporate my passion for community service into the school community to shape students into well-rounded, responsible, and educated individuals.

No matter one's age, there is always more to be learned. I want to continue my educational journey as a teacher. I will use my knowledge to tackle any challenge that comes my way. No challenge can stop me from my dream and goals of positively changing lives around me.
