I am a Career and Technical Education teacher, Family and Consumer Sciences. I have taught foods classes, both cooking and baking, to students of all ages, from elementary school students to adults. I have taught in the classroom, at summer camps and online. Most importantly, I love cooking, especially baking. I have been baking since I was very young, with my mother and grandmother. I enjoy sharing my joy and experience with students.
The recipe, which include the ingredient listing, will be sent to students after enrollment. Kitchen equipment that the student will need is: liquid and dry measuring cups and spoons; mixing bowl; mixing spoon; cookie sheets; cooling racks, wax paper, oven mitts or potholders. An electric mixer is helpful, but the cookies could also be mixed using a mixing spoon and bowl.
Parental/adult guidance is suggested as students will be using the oven to bake cookies. The students will need additional time after class to complete baking their cookies. This recipe uses butter to make the cookies. (A non-dairy margarine could be substituted.)
