I am a Career and Technical Education teacher, Family and Consumer Sciences. I have taught foods classes, both cooking and baking, to students of all ages, from elementary school students to adults. I have taught in the classroom, at summer camps and online. Most importantly, I love cooking, especially baking, and especially at the Holidays. I have been baking since I was very young, with my mother and grandmother. I enjoy sharing my joy and experience with students.
Students will be asked to sample their dish, clean up after themselves, and thank the adult who assisted them.
The recipes, which include the ingredient listing, will be sent to students after enrollment. Kitchen equipment that the student will need is: liquid and dry measuring cups and spoons; mixing bowl; mixing spoon; cookie sheets; cooling racks, oven mitts or potholders.
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parental/adult guidance is suggested as students will be using the oven to bake cookies. This recipe uses butter to make the sugar cookies. (A non-dairy margarine could be substituted.)
