Class Experience

I encourage kids to have a hands-on learning experience with my cooking classes. I would love for them to cook step by step with me so they gain the knowledge and experience while being able to taste their end product each and every class. My teaching style is a positive reinforcement style, where I encourage questions and comments. I complete each lesson with a wrap-up page, where we review the cooking terms we learned that day. My classes are made to be fun and engaging. I will ask the children questions to ensure they are understanding the lesson and various skills of the day. They will gain confidence in the kitchen and learn life skills on how to stay safe in the kitchen while preparing delicious and fun dishes.

Learning Goals

Kids will learn how to work safely in the kitchen.

Parental Guidance
Safety is the number one priority when in the kitchen. The students will learn proper knife skills and how to safely handle and use a knife. There will be times when we will be using the stove and it is imperative that the children are safe and have an adult nearby to oversee them during those times. I will be sure to go over how we work around a stove and proper safety measures when cooking on a stove.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Carri and I have been a teacher for the last 5 years. I absolutely love working with kids and letting the kids get creative with ideas in a judgment-free zone. I am passionate about cooking. I love to cook and enjoy teaching kids tools and tips to stay safe and have fun in the kitchen. I encourage kids to think outside of the box and really listen to kid's ideas or concepts. My classes are always so much fun, the kids don't even realize they are learning. My teaching style is a positive reinforcement structure. There is never a bad question in my class.

I am also a mom. I have a 9-year-old son who is on the Autism Spectrum. I have gone through years of ABA training with my son, so am very knowledgeable on how to redirect and diffuse situations early on. I am a very patient teacher and know how to work with kids with special needs and understand that every child has a different learning technique.

I look forward to having your child in my class!
