Class Experience
Make healthy, wholesome foods with your child. Four recipes with instructional videos plus 4 mini health lessons. While you and your child are enjoying your wholesome food creation you can focus and discuss on why healthy food choices are important with fit Sanford mini healthy food choice lessons. Recipes include: *Cherry, Chocolate Acai Bowl *Banana Sushi *Watermelon or Strawberry Ice *Peanut Butter (or PB substitute) and Banana Smoothie Mini Health Lessons include: *Healthy Snacks Quiz *What Fruits and Vegetables Do For Your Body *The Scoop on Sugar *What Water Does For Your Body Flex means shop and cook on your own schedule. Great parent / child activity, connecting and cooking together. It is all about fun, that is my teaching style! If students have fun, they will want to practice healthy habits outside of class. Students can participate in with questions, discussion, or post a photo to interact with myself or other chefs. I will be modeling the activities with a video of myself doing the cooking activities and sending a video for our mini-health lessons. You will be participating in hands-on, cooking activities with your child while learning about healthy food choices. No prior experience necessary. Please note that supervision from an adult or parent is necessary for the cooking portion for cutting, blending and other cooking tasks. Learning Goals
We will learn basic cooking skills, healthy recipes, while learning why it is important to feed our bodies with good nutritious, wholesome foods. Getting kids involved in the shopping and preparing meals (and snacks) encourages healthy eating habits. The best part is you can do a cooking activity with your child and enjoy a yummy snack together.

Parental Guidance
Please supervise your child in the kitchen for safety. When working in the kitchen, there are potential hazards, including use of a blender, knife, microwave, and other kitchen tools and/or possible allergens.
Supply List
A full list of ingredients, kitchen supplies for all the class sessions will be sent to you the day you sign up. All of the ingredients are found in all grocery stores and kitchen supplies are common to most kitchen's. A blender, mixer, or bullet type appliance is needed for two recipes.

My passion is teaching, planning, and coordinating engaging, hands-on, FUN, and meaningful curriculum with emphasis on fitness, health, sport and physical skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. I teach 250 plus students, PK-8th grade daily at my school in Portland, OR but have Fridays and Summers off for Outschool. I earned a M.A. ED. in Education and B.A. in Physical Education / Health. In addition, earned a teaching credential in Oregon and California. I have been a physical education teacher, health teacher, and coach for 30 plus years. I love connecting with student athletes and love teaching! My real excitement and passion are working with students and athletes. I look forward to connecting with your child and motivating them to be healthy, happy, and active!
