45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
During this class students will listen to the story Little Nino's Pizzeria. Please note, I use Nearpod to guide students through the story and activities. You can set up Nearpod on another tab on the computer or on a separate device like an Ipad or phone. The Nearpod code will be in the chat box at the beginning of class. The students will then discuss the parts of the story for clues in the art, importance of family in the story and what kind of pizza they would make. Then we will move to the kitchen and make a pizza. Parent supervision is required to use the hot oven. Students will need pizza dough out of the refrigerator for at least an hour ( homemade, from the local grocery store or restaurant), pizza sauce ( favorite spaghetti sauce will work), mozzarella cheese shredded and any additional toppings the student would like to add (pepperoni, vegetables), a pizza pan or cookie sheet. Students will learn how to roll out the dough to make their own crust. It does not have to be round. They will then add sauce with a spoon. Top the pizza with cheese and other toppings. Parents are to put the pizza in the oven and bake for 15 minutes. Then parents take the pizza out of the oven. Student gets to enjoy the pizza.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about family and helping each other. They will also learn to look for clues in illustrations that give more information about characters. Students will learn to follow directions for making a pizza.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, I am Teacher Paula!
I am a Florida certified teacher with a bachelor degree in Education. I have a great passion for teaching and have taught a variety of subjects. I love to create classes around literature because there is so much you can learn around a book or story: science, English, grammar, history, art, geography and so much more.
I have 33 years experience and have taught in all grade levels and almost all subjects. I have taught public school, private school, co-ops and home schooled my four children. I have taught kindergarten through high school as well as special needs students.
My philosophy is that all students can learn but not all students learn the same way. I believe students learn hands on, auditorily and or visually. I incorporate these learning styles into my classes so all kids will be able to learn. I also believe in making the class interesting and enjoyable. Teaching a student to enjoy learning that is a gift that will follow them all the days of their lives.
Some of my favorite hobbies are gardening, sewing quilts, and exploring new recipes. I have a great love for cooking and even have my own cookbook. After cooking I ride my bike for exercise. My absolute favorite thing to do though is to play with my granddaughter.
I am looking forward to meeting and teaching your child. See you in the classroom.
