Class Experience

During this FLEX class students will learn how to make four easy, home-made desserts from Spain and France that are good for any occasion. The recipes are easy to follow with detailed step-by-step instructions and helpful photos and videos. This a four week flex class (meaning there will be no live meetings). You will learn briefly the history of these desserts, their origin, and how to prepare them to impress your family and friends at your next gathering. The recipes will come in a slide presentation with the list of all necessary ingredients and estimated times of preparation and baking. I use Nearpod for a more interactive class.  At the end of every week students submit a brief assignment describing the challenges of every recipe and sharing their opinion of the dessert including a photo of the final deserve ready to serve. Questions, photos, and comments will be shared throughout the week using the Outschool classroom page for discussions.  I will also be available via email to answer questions and troubleshoot. 

I promise you that these desserts are quick and easy to make!

Week 1:  Cheese Flan*
Week 2: Chocolate pastries (Pain au chocolat)
Week 3: Almond cake (Tarta de Santiago)*
Week 4: Creme Brûlée*

*gluten free desserts

Syllabus

4 Lessons
over 4 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Cheese Flan
 During this week we will make a cheese flan. It's an easy and quick recipe. 
Lesson 2:
Chocolate Pastries
 These chocolate pastries are super fun to make and you can get creative with your puff pastry and come up with different shapes! 
Lesson 3:
Almond Cake
 During this week, we will make a delicious almond cake. 
Lesson 4:
Creme Brûlée
 During our last week we will make a Creme Brûlée that will impress our whole family! 

Other Details

Parental Guidance
This class requires the use of the oven and some recipes also require the use of the stove. Therefore parental supervision is strongly advised.
Supply List
You will need some basic cooking stuff such as: frying pan, small pot, springform pan, glass and plastic bowls, cake testers, ceramic bowls for the oven, spatulas, a mixer, brush, and zest grater. 
List of ingredients will be provided every week for each dessert!
