Jump on over for this one time class to make a delicious ice cream cake. Since this class has no baking or cutting...it's perfect for all ages. Feel free to join if you're a little bit younger or a little bit older! We will learn simple kitchen skills like mixing, crushing, layering and spreading. We will begin with a slide show to explain exactly what we will do. Then, we will hop over to our own kitchens and make this yummy cake together. This cake is simple, fun and easy to change. You can change the type of ice cream sandwich that you use. It would be delicious with mint chocolate chip or cookies and cream ice cream sandwiches and the cookie topping can be switched out to make it your own. Join me for a little learning, a little cooking and a lot of fun!
Learning Goals
Students will learn very basic cooking skills such as stirring, crushing, spreading and layering. And...they will learn to make a yummy no bake cake!
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Children will be cooking in the kitchen and may need to be monitored. We will not be using the stove, oven or microwaves...so there is not chance of burning ourselves. We will not be using knives.
Supply List
Learners will need: 1 box of ice cream sandwiches - 12 count - any flavor will work 1 large 16 oz. container of Cool Whip or whipped topping 10 to 12 Oreo cookies - or any cookie that you love platter or cookie sheet spoon or spatula gallon size ziploc bag a rolling pin or something to break up the cookies bowl for mixing

Hello! My name is Emily Ruth and my passion in life is teaching children of all different ages in all different settings. I began my teaching career in a 1st grade classroom in a public school. After 5 years, I went back to school and received a license to be a speech language pathologist assistant. I have taught English to children in China on the internet and I tutor children ages kindergarten through 4th grade. Using music and rhythm across different subjects makes learning more fun and engaging. I teach kids their multiplication facts through catchy songs that really “stick” since music is the easiest way to remember information! We learn tricky sight words to a beat to make them easier and much more fun. I look forward to teaching classes with a fun read aloud and an exciting craft to go along with our book. With my expereince in 1st grade, I feel confident reinforcing those phonological skills and teaching children to read.
