Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Beginner Level
Perfect your baking skills with these chewy and crispy molasses cookies made with tasty Fall spices!
In this class, we will be mixing everything from scratch and baking the cookies.
This is a great class for beginners or experienced cooks, too. I like to keep the class size low so that learners have the opportunity to ask questions as we go and be as interactive as possible.

Class Instruction will include:

- demonstration and discussion of mixing tools and techniques
- demonstration of shaping cookies and preparing for baking
- modeling of proper oven usage and safety

I will model the process of preparing the cookie dough and baking the cookies in my kitchen as the student follows along while making their own. Students may need extra time after class to finish baking their remaining cookies. It is important that students have some type of electric mixer for this recipe. This helps mix the batter more thoroughly so that the cookies rise properly.

Limited parental supervision is required for this class since we will be using the oven, mixer, and handling hot pans.
Everything that you will need for this class is included in the materials section below.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from University of California, San Diego
I have been baking for over 30 years and specialize in creating delicious pies, breads, and cookies. I have provided professional-grade desserts, pies and cake pops for many birthdays, graduations, baby/wedding showers, and community celebrations.

I am a graduate of the University of California at San Diego with a degree in Political Science. My teaching experience includes homeschooling my own two children for 18 years. I have also taught ESL online for the past 1 1/2 years.
Fun fact about me: I began baking on my own as a latch-key kid in the 80's. Many of my first attempts were completely inedible!
Now, after many years of experience and perfecting my craft, I'm excited to share my passion for baking with young learners!
