Chicken long rice is a popular, comfort food dish in Hawaii. It can be a side dish or served more as a soup or a light meal. It is originally a Chinese dish but was adapted by locals and is now popular at luaus throughout the islands. My own mother and my eldest daughter call this one of their favorite dishes, it is like a warm hug from the inside! This is a wonderful dish to serve as we head into the colder months. In this class students will: 1) Shred cooked chicken 2) Learn how to prepare long rice (bean thread) 3) Slice and prepare vegetables 4) combine ingredients and seasonings 5) Cook on stove top 6) Plate and garnish chicken long rice

Teacher expertise and credentials
Thank you for getting to know me!
I was born and raised, and still reside on the beautiful island of Oahu in Hawaii. I have over 25 years of experience teaching children via homeschooling four children, hosting homeschool Co-ops at my home, and teaching within the private and public schools on our island. I aim to make my classes engaging, interactive, educational, and meaningful. In my free time, I enjoy hiking in our lush green Hawaii mountains, swimming along Oahu's coastlines, and creating delicious foods and recipes for family and friends. I’m so excited to meet you and look forward to seeing you face-to-face!
My teaching style is casually fun yet instructive. I will patiently teach your learner in a step-by-step fashion.
My classes are live and interactive and usually small (4 students). I recommend that the video of your child is on so they may show other classmates and me their craft, project, or recipe progress.
I have created my classes to be inclusive, which means students of all abilities are very welcome. If your student needs any accommodations, please let me know, and we will work together to ensure that they have the best possible class experience.
