Ready...Set...Cook! In this fun, high energy 3-day cooking experience, aspiring chefs will compete to showcase their kitchen skills! - Day 1: Cooking Championship: Entrée Round - Day 2: Decorating Championship: Nailed It! - Day 3: Cooking Championship: Dessert Round Day 1 and Day 3: Aspiring chefs will create their own unique entrée dish (Day 1) and dessert dish (Day 3) using a combination of "mystery" ingredients! Similar to popular cooking competition shows such as ‘Chopped’, students will have a limited time to create a dish/dessert that incorporates 4 unique ingredients. - To preserve the mystery element of the ingredients, parents will be given a supply list of 9 items prior to class (see Supply List below). Many of these items are commonly used pantry items that you may already have. - At the start of class, I will announce 4 of the 9 ingredients that will be used. These 4 items will be the only ingredients used. - Students will have 30 minutes to create a unique dish that incorporates all 4 ingredients. Day 2: Aspiring pastry chefs will be presented with an image/video of a uniquely decorated cupcake, and the challenge is to duplicate the design! Can you Nail It? Designed to be fun and and light hearted, students will have 30 minutes to make their best attempt to replicate the decorations! - There will be no baking in this class. Students should already have 12 pre-made cupcakes ready to decorate. - Students should be prepared with all of the items on the Supply List. Each day, we will start by introducing ourselves, then we will review the rules, next we will cook/decorate and then present. Finally we will receive our awards! Students should have basic kitchen knowledge, and any use of knives/chopping or stove cooking must be supervised by parent. Stove use is optional.
Learning Goals
Students will practice healthy competition, while developing good sportsmanship skills and positive camaraderie.
