Cooking & Baking with DeAnn: Make Dinner - Main Dishes, Part 2 (FLEX 14-18 yrs)
What's included
Homework
1-2 hours per week. This is the best kind of homework! Make the dish...and then enjoy eating it! :)Class Experience
** THIS IS A FLEX CLASS AND DOES NOT HAVE LIVE MEETINGS ** During this class, learners will be taught how to make delicious homemade main dish meals. Making dinner for friends and family is fun and rewarding if you have a delicious recipe you'd like to share. We'll talk about different salads, side dishes, or vegetables that would go well with each meal. Quick Class Schedule Overview: Week 1: Loaded Monterey Chicken Week 2: Porcupine Meatballs Week 3: Poppyseed Chicken Week 4: BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches (If you would like to make a salad or side dish to go along with this main dish, I have a "Salads and Side Dishes" class that would go well with these main dishes. If interested, please click on "See Other Classes by DeAnn Andreasen" on the main page for this class.) Videos for each step of the dinner process will be shown to help the learners easily follow along while making their main dishes. A list of supplies and ingredients will be sent out each week on Wednesdays (if your class starts on a Saturday) or on Fridays (if your class starts on a Monday) so you can plan and shop for any ingredients you might need. Photos of the ingredients and supplies will be included to help when shopping for ingredients. Recipes and instructional videos will be sent out early each Saturday/Monday morning (depending on when your class starts) in preparation for the new week so you can make these recipes at a time that works best for you. I will be available throughout the 4-week class for any questions and comments and will do my best to respond quickly. Because this is a flex class, learners are encouraged to post weekly on the classroom page. Students are asked to: • Answer questions about the recipes, or recipe-making process at the end of each week. • Share successes with one another, as well things that might have been a struggle as they learned something new. • Share a photo with the class of at least 2 of their dishes. • Comment on posts of other students, giving encouragement, helpful tips (things that worked for you) and praise. My class is a safe place to learn, grow, make mistakes, laugh together, feel confident, and find new ways to be successful. I want everyone to feel safe and happy while creating in the kitchen. Come make dinner with me!
Learning Goals

• Learn to make dinner for their families once a week by making a variety of main dishes.

Supply List
The supply lists and ingredients will change each week, depending on the type of main dishes we are making. These will be sent out 3 days before each class begins so learners can plan and prepare for the upcoming week. As with all of my cooking and baking classes, I will include photos of the supplies and ingredients we will be using to make it easier for students to see and gather what they need for each class. Most of the classes will require these supplies: Rubber spatula or wooden spoon Mixing bowl Measuring cups and measuring spoons Saucepan or oven baking dish

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Weber State University
Cooking and baking are some of my favorite hobbies and I enjoy spending time making a variety of foods for my family. I have been cooking and baking for my family for over 25 years. However, my hobby truly began when I was a young girl and I wanted to make and create different foods and dishes in the kitchen. I am excited to share this wonderful hobby with young chefs and create an excitement in this area as well.
