Cooking & Baking with DeAnn: Homemade Cookies and Brownies (FLEX 9-14 yrs)
What's included
Homework
Our class has the best kind of homework! Make the cookies and then enjoy them! :) A flex class is fun and convenient because learners can make the cookies and brownies, as well as complete the assignments on their own time, but these classes are more fun when learners also interact with one another. Each week I want the learners to think about the recipe and the ingredients we are using. Why are these ingredients an essential part of that particular recipe? What ingredients could you add to change the recipe? I will ask questions about the cookies/brownies, recipes, or cookie-making process at the end of each week. Students should be prepared to share successes, as well things that might have been a struggle as they learned something new. Students will also be asked to share a photo with the class of at least 3 of their cookies or brownies.Class Experience
** THIS IS A FLEX CLASS AND DOES NOT HAVE LIVE MEETINGS ** Students will learn how to make a variety of delicious cookies and brownies throughout this class. We will make a new recipe each week. Learners will build their recipe files, share ideas, and feel confident in what they have made. These cookies are perfect for gatherings or celebrations with friends and family. Class Schedule: Week 1 - Amazing Chocolate Chip Cookies Week 2 - Chocolate Crinkle Cookies Week 3 - Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies Week 4 - Brownies (from scratch) with Frosting Week 5 - Snickerdoodles Week 6 - Double Chocolate Chip Peppermint Cookies (Crushed Peppermint is optional) Videos for each step of the recipes will be shown to help learners easily follow along while making their cookies and brownies. A list of ingredients and supplies will be posted each week on Wednesdays with photos to help when shopping for these ingredients. A full recipe with step-by-step videos will be posted each Saturday morning in preparation for the new week so learners can make their cookies and brownies at a time that will best fit their schedules. I will be available throughout the 6-week class for questions and comments and will do my best to respond quickly.
