What's included

Homework
1-2 hours per week. Learners are encouraged to post weekly on the classroom page. I will ask questions about the different breakfast foods and recipes at the end of each week. Students should be prepared to share their successes, as well things that might have been a struggle as they learned something new. Students will also be asked to share a photo with the class of at least 3 different of their breakfast foods.

Class Experience

** THIS IS A FLEX CLASS AND DOES NOT HAVE LIVE MEETINGS **

Students will learn to make many different kinds of breakfast foods, including pancakes, flavored syrup, breakfast casserole, blueberry muffins, cinnamon streusel muffins, Belgian waffles, and orange rolls.

This is Part 2 of the Flex Breakfast Class. However, you do not need to take them order - there are simply so many delicious breakfast foods that I decided to split them into two classes. So enjoy taking one or both classes at any time. :)

While making various breakfast foods, we will talk about changing some of the recipes by adding or removing ingredients such as raisins, nuts, chocolate chips, etc. to fit the needs and desires of the learners. Once learners see how easy it is to make some of these delicious foods, they will want to make them often!

Videos for each step of the recipe process will be shown to help the learners easily follow along while making their breakfast foods. I am shown in the video making the food along with the learner every step of the way.

I post photos of the ingredients and supplies for each recipe, as well as an ingredient and supply list to make shopping easier. These lists will be posted 3 days before class begins. Recipes and instructional videos will be posted on Saturday or Monday mornings (depending on the start date of your class) so learners can take advantage of cooking and baking on the weekend if that is best for their schedules.

I will be available throughout the 5-week class for questions and comments and will do my best to respond quickly - especially if you have a question while you are in the middle of a recipe. :)

Because this is a flex class, learners are encouraged to post weekly on the classroom page. I will ask questions about the food, recipes, or cooking/baking process at the end of each week. Students should be prepared to share successes, as well things that might have been a struggle as they learned something new. Students will also be asked to share a photo of at least 3 of their breakfast foods.

My class is a safe place to learn, grow, make mistakes, laugh together, feel confident, and find new ways to be successful. I want everyone to feel safe and happy while creating in the kitchen. Come make breakfast with me!

Parental Guidance
Learners will be using the oven, griddle and/or the stove in most classes. We will also be using electric mixers and and knives for cutting butter or other ingredients. Please be aware of possible allergens for your child such as dairy, eggs, wheat, soy, or nuts (some of these are optional ingredients). Parents are strongly encouraged to assist the learner in the kitchen.
Supply List
The supply lists and ingredients will change each week, depending on the type of foods we are making, and will be sent out 3 days before class begins so learners can plan and prepare for the upcoming week. As with all of my cooking and baking classes, I will include photos of the supplies and ingredients we will be using to make it easier for students to see and gather what they need for class. I will also include a list to make it easier for printing and shopping.

Most of the classes will require these supplies:
Rubber spatulas and mixing spoons
Whisk or electric hand-mixer
Muffin pan (Optional: cupcake liners)
Saucepan and wooden spoon
Measuring cups and spoons
Non-stick cooking spray

Cooking and baking are two of my favorite hobbies and I enjoy spending time making a variety of foods for my family. I have been cooking and baking for my family for over 25 years. However, my hobby truly began when I was a young girl and I wanted to make and create different foods and dishes in the kitchen. I am excited to share this wonderful hobby with young chefs and create an excitement for them in this as well.
